Wangchuk Hotel Mongar is the finest hotel in Mongar town, fairly a new hotel opened only in 2007. The Haa valley used to be off limits for tourists visiting Bhutan and was opened to Tourism only recently. The Risum Hotel is one of the few hotels catering to tourists in this region. The Gangtey Palace Hotel, dating back to 100 years ago, has become more of a traditional landmark with rich historical significance. Commanding the best location in Paro, the hotel is famous for its view of majestic Rimpung Dzong and the culturally rich Paro valley. It is said that the property belonged to Uncle of first king of Bhutan and later converted to a hotel and today is owned by his grandson.
